Dominique Sanders

Dominique Sanders was born and raised Malibu California. She began
studying art from a very young age and was determined to pursue a
career in the arts. She briefly attended Art Center in Pasadena before settling upon the Academy of Art in San Francisco (1995-1999) where she majored in illustration and fine art painting.

She returned home to Southern California and began work as a scenic
painter for UV/FX Scenic Productions. Her work was represented by Tops
Gallery in Malibu from 2000-2007, along with the Gallery of Functional
Art at Bergamot Station, and the George Barris Kustoms Gallery. Also
having a passion for functional art, Sanders began independently studying
welding and metalworking. She has freelanced as a fine art welding instructor, and has also taught private fine art painting for children.

In recent years (2008-2011), she has shown at CANVAS Gallery in Malibu with 3 successful shows. This local recognition has sparked much enthusiasm, and has led to several commissions adding to her growing list of collectors.
Dominique is deeply inspired by nature and her native environment. Her work resonates with the beauty and perfection found in nature, both in her subject matter and in her technique. Her use of many layered acrylics combined with industrial epoxy resin gives the appearance of a pristine
finish and an amazing look at nature in its most detailed simplicity.

Dominique currently lives in Malibu with her husband, film composer Buck Sanders, and her daughter, Roux Bee, and works out of her local studio where she has happily returned to her roots as a fine art painter.
